Warren’s Biography

Author/Drum Educator/YouTuber; Warren de Melo is no stranger to the music industry; He is a professional drummer of many years, having had live experience from the age of 7.

As an educator/performer, Warren has been featured on Modern Drummer Magazine, Metal Hammer, Rhythm Magazine, and many others.

Warren’s first drum book - Time Essentials for Drummers, featuring a wonderful foreword by drumming legend, Dom Famularo, is making its way to many drummers homes with over 600 copies sold since it’s launch on Amazon in October 2023. The book includes audio examples, charts, practice journal, a special chapter on mastering 4/4 + all odd meters from 21 down to 3 and motivational content to hack your mind to success.

Warren second drum book - The Paradiddle Guide, is another masterpiece featuring 32 new grooves to elevate every drummers vocabulary, 3 & 4 way independence, sight reading and much more. Both ebooks are now available to buy from the store page.

In the not-so-distant past, Warren worked on remote sessions featuring Legendary Bassist Billy Sheehan (Steve Vai/The Winery Dogs/Mr Big) and Guitarist Nili Brosh (Cirque du Soleil/Guthrie Gowan/Marco Minnemann/Virgil Donati), including video collaborations with Bassist Henrik Linder (Dirty Loops), Bassist Melvin Lee Davis (Chaka Khan/Lee Ritenour), Guitarist Mark Letterie (Snarky Puppy), Drummer Chris Turner (Oceans Ate Alaska) and even briefly played in the Westend for the smash-hit musicals, Mamma Mia & The Bodyguard.

During Warren’s career, He has performed with a diverse range of cabaret acts and his musical history spans from 1920's Big band music, all the way to modern day Pop, Jazz and Metal including every other style in between, with the added ability to teach, compose, engineer and sing backing vocals.

Besides being known for giving birth to frightening speed & ambidexterity, Warren’s infectious groove is what gets him to work in a wide variety of gigs & recording sessions; both nationally & internationally. 

His natural talent, combined with a herculean work-ethic and never-ending curiosity, has propelled him to an unbelievable performance level.
When not gigging, recording or touring, Warren maintains a busy schedule publishing drum books, teaching over 60 students privately, mixing/mastering audio for bands, and recording drum content for his YouTube channel.
